Checklist #177, Section 16 Work (B). ‘Radiation laboratory, University of California, American’ — institutional credit rather than an individual photographer. Print 104 x 86 cm. The Radiation Laboratory (UC Berkeley / Lawrence Berkeley) was the wartime Manhattan Project physics center; by 1955 it was a core US atomic-research institution. This institutional attribution is an early indication that Section 16 ‘Work (B)’ encompasses scientific and industrial labor alongside manual work.
