Catalog notes
Checklist #451, Section 39 Faces. Swiss, 22 x 17 1/4 cm. Sixth Werner Bischof plate in the checklist; count verified by grep this session against five prior plates at photo-0027 (#30, Japan, Marriage, Magnum/Swiss, 18 x 12 cm), photo-0192 (#194, Japan, Classical Music, MAGNUM/Swiss, 48 x 37 1/4 cm), photo-0208 (#217, Hungary, Adult Play, MAGNUM/Swiss, 34 x 50 cm), photo-0272 (#283, Romania/’Rumania’, Ring Around the Rosy, Magnum/Swiss, 18 x 14 3/4 cm), photo-0381 (#395, India, Famine, Magnum/Swiss, 16 x 23 3/4 cm). First Bischof plate set in Indochina in this catalog; first Bischof plate without a Magnum agency credit — the prior five all carried Magnum, this row prints only ‘Swiss’ per the verbatim PDF page 22 rendering. The PDF page 22 image (inspected this session) prints the entry verbatim as ‘451 Indochina Werner Bischof, Swiss 22 x 17 1/4’. Bischof died May 16, 1954 in Peru (claim carried from photo-0027 / photo-0272 / photo-0381 notes; NOT re-verified against any fetched source this round); any plate dates must therefore be <=1954. First Indochina-country entry in the catalog (a grep of data/photographs.csv this session returns no prior ‘Indochina’ country row). ‘Indochina’ is the 1955 designation widely used in English-language institutional documents to refer to French Indochina — that geopolitical/historical framing is general-knowledge context NOT re-verified against any fetched source this round per CLAUDE.md anti-confabulation policy. Final row in this batch; the next plate (#452 — Italy, Ernst Haas, Magnum, Austrian, 22 x 16 3/4 cm — visible on PDF page 24) falls to the next batch. Batch arithmetic: the issue requested rows for checklist range #427-#451 inclusive; that range contains 25 numbered slots with no missing numbers and no letter-suffix supplements = 25 new rows in this batch (photo-0412 through photo-0436). The structural milestones in this batch: SECTION 35 TEENS closes at #433 (photo-0418, end of Teens); SECTION 36 MAN’S JUDGMENT runs #434-#436 (photo-0419 through photo-0421); SECTION 37 VOTING runs #437-#440 (photo-0422 through photo-0425); SECTION 38 GOVERNMENT runs #441-#445 (photo-0426 through photo-0430) and is PRINTED OUT-OF-ORDER on PDF page 23 AFTER Section 39 (image-confirmed this session); SECTION 39 FACES runs #446-#451 (photo-0431 through photo-0436) and is PRINTED on page 22 BEFORE the inserted Section 38. Out-of-order rows recorded in NUMERICAL order per the photo-0339 / photo-0400 precedent. WALK-TO-PARADISE-GARDEN MILESTONE: a fourth W. Eugene Smith plate has NOT appeared in this batch; per the issue brief, the canonical closing plate at large dimensions is to be flagged when encountered — this batch closes at #451 (Bischof, Indochina, 22 x 17 1/4 cm) and the next batch will need to monitor #452 onwards for it. No invention per CLAUDE.md (cf. lessons from PRs #58, #61, #65, #67, #69, #71, #73). Section 39 FACES mapped to sec-relationships-community per photo-0431 note (approximate, not canonical).
